New consultation tool to help organisations analyse value delivery

After six years of interviewing business leaders in over 100 organisations worldwide across the private, public and third sectors, top team consultants and Henley Business School Professors Andrew and Nada Kakabadse have announced the launch of their new ‘Success through Value Delivery’ (SVD) Tool.

“The more I quizzed corporate leaders, the more it became clear that there are two very different approaches to creating value,” explains Andrew Kakabadse. “One is about ‘perceived value,’ and the other is ‘delivered value.’

“Most leaders have a default setting and lean towards one or the other.

Perceived Value

“Leaders who rely on perceived value start out with a predetermined notion of how the organisation can create value, and then look for evidence to support their ideas and strategy.

“What happens next is an all-too-familiar pattern where value creation becomes detached from reality and evidence, and routine and denial then take over. The organisation may run on pre-existing competence in the short-term but ultimately it is doomed to failure.

Delivered Value

“Alternatively those who support delivered value are characterised by their closeness to customers and other stakeholders, and strive to create a culture which constantly interrogates the evidence and tests strategy.

“They put a strategy in place which supports these findings, but exposes itself to challenges from stakeholders. This creates engagement and connects the dots of reality into a foundation of truly delivering value.”

The ‘Success through Value Delivery’ (SVD) Tool

Following their extensive research Nada and Andrew are now offering organisations access to the new SVD Tool, which acts as a sophisticated instrument to identify and measure organisational value delivery.

Nada Kakabadse comments: “This unique Tool provides an accurate measure of how well organisations score in delivering value through a detailed analysis of the following areas:

  • Strategy - highlights how effective the organisation is at formulating, debating and implementing strategy. Outcomes show the balance between value proposition-led versus value delivery-led.
  • Engagement – illustrates the relationship between different interfaces and the ability to formulate and debate strategy, showing how effective or ineffective the organisation is.
  • Alignment – details how strategically-aligned the board, top team and general managers are.
  • Value Mindset – shows how similar or different mindsets can be best managed to optimise organisational value.”
