Trust in UK business on the line
Professor Nada Kakabadse of Henley Business School has given a keynote speech at 'ICSA: The Governance Institute' on the subject of 'Stewardship: Rethinking Best Boardroom Practice.'
Nada explained how strategic misalignment within organisations has resulted in trust in UK businesses dropping from 45% to 43% over 2018, against a global average of 52%.
An overemphasis on control and efficiency, plus a significant lack of stewardship and resilience is increasingly worrying leaders and corporate governance specialists, she added.
New challenges include regulations which ensure companies report on stakeholder engagement, and disclose and explain CEO pay in comparison to their UK employees.
